Transcoding

Multimedia Sculpture | Photography
This photographic series was the product of extensive form and material exploration.

I created a system in which a single form is transcoded into a different medium through a different process every time - casting, vacuum forming, upholstering, etc. This gave me the ability to generate a plethora of forms that were visually related.

Each form carries into its new material state a lot of visual similarities to its predecessor while having a unique material quality. The most exciting part was observing how each new form played with the following 3 visual elements:

line, plane, and volume.

Each material shift completely changed the hierarchy of the elements.
